Cracking Down on Sex Offenders

As Attorney General and as Governor, no one has a stronger record cracking down on sex offenders than Jim Doyle

Under Governor Doyle, <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = ST1 />Wisconsin has some of the toughest sex offender laws in the nation.

That's why our campaign today unveiled a new television ad highlighting his extraordinary record of cracking down on sex predators.

Watch the Ad | Help Fund the Ad

While Congressman Green has been sitting behind a desk in Washington, Governor Doyle has been locking up sex predators in Wisconsin and keeping our kids safe.

Governor Doyle signed one of the toughest sex offender laws in the nation, led the effort to track down more than 1,000 sex predators, and worked to better inform parents and grandparents of who is living in their community.

In fact, Wisconsin has been recognized as a national model by the Parents for Megan's Law, a national children's advocacy group.

And through Governor Doyle’s Sex Offender Apprehension and Felony Enforcement (SAFE) initiative, the state has tracked down more than 1,000 non-compliant offenders, and more dangerous offenders are being tracked using GPS technology. Click below to watch the new ad.

Governor Doyle has made Wisconsin a nationwide model for protecting our children. Watch our new ad today to find out how Governor Doyle is cracking down on sex offenders and keeping our communities safe.

Extreme
See Congressman Green’s extreme
record of turning record surpluses into record deficits, cutting education
funding, trying to
shut down
life-saving stem cell research, giving tax breaks to the big oil and big drug companies, trying to criminalize a woman’s right to
choose, and voting against the environment.

ExtremeMarkGreen.com sheds light on
who really benefits with Congressman Green in office: the
Washington special
interests.

After a hard look at his record, the

Leading the way in stem cell research

Governor Jim Doyle today showed his continued support for stem cell research by announcing $1 million in funding for a stem cell research start-up company in Wisconsin.

You can support Governor Doyle's vision for keeping Wisconsin the stem cell leader by getting involved in our campaign. Visit our stem cell website today:

http://www.StemCellChampionsForDoyle.com

Governor Doyle doesn’t just talk about stem cell research. Time and again, he has taken aggressive action to move this research forward.

Offering free research licenses to stem cell companies that locate in Wisconsin.

Supporting the selection of Wisconsin’s WiCell as the country’s first National Stem Cell Bank by the National Institutes of Health.

Setting a clear goal for Wisconsin: capture 10 percent of the stem cell market – which could create 100,000 jobs and generate $10 billion – by 2015.

Equally as important are the real concerns of UW-Madison researchers, who say <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Wisconsin’s leadership in the field of stem cell research could be in jeopardy if Republican Congressman Mark Green is elected Governor.

There is no doubt that Congressman Green, if elected Governor, would place severe restrictions on this life-saving research in Wisconsin and even drive researchers out of the state. Wisconsin State Journal – Choice of governor could affect research complex.

Researchers are concerned that Congressman Green, who has voted in Washington against federal funding for stem cell research, would try to limit the groundbreaking research in Wisconsin. Wisconsin State Journal – Scientists Fear Election of Mark Green Could Hurt Stem-cell Research

Governor Doyle is working to give Wisconsin’s researchers and scientists the means to move forward in all facets of stem cell research.

There is less than a month to go before the election. This issue is too important to let fall by the wayside. You can help by getting involved. Click below to visit our new website today and sign up:

A vote for Governor Doyle is a vote for stem cell research.

Governor Doyle and AG Candidate Falk announce plan to address crime lab backlog

Governor
Doyle was with Attorney General Candidate Kathleen Falk in Milwaukee and
Appleton today to announce a new plan to address the DNA backlog that
Wisconsin’s crime labs are currently facing.

Getting
criminals off our streets and behind bars is a top priority for both Governor
Doyle and Attorney General Candidate Falk.
We’ve got to ensure that every community in our state is safe, whether
it’s located in Milwaukee, Appleton, or anywhere else.

The plan
deals with the backup on several fronts, including additional resources, an
increase in the capacity of the crime lab, prioritization of the most violent
cases, and increased partnership with law enforcement.

The
specifics:

Increasing Resources Committed to
DNA Analysis

Governor
Doyle will provide $1.22 million to fund 15 new analysts and technicians for
DNA testing in his 2007-09 biennial budget.

Establishing a New Case Screening
and Prioritization Policy

Crime labs
currently do some screening of submissions and have a broad system for
prioritizing cases. As part of Doyle and
Falk’s plan, the crime labs will establish a case screening and priority policy
to ensure that homicides and sexual assault investigations are given the
highest priority. For sexual assault and
homicide cases without a known suspect, DNA samples will be matched with
samples from the DNA database within 30 days.

Developing New Training
Opportunities Between Crime Labs and Law Enforcement

As part of
the plan, DOJ will establish a new training program to enhance collaboration
and partnership between DNA technicians and analysts and law enforcement. The enhanced training program will improve
the crime labs’ ability to triage crime evidence, emphasize evidence collection
and submission, and promote mutual understanding of how DNA evidence can best
benefit an investigation. Illinois enacted a
similar training program which also helped to reduce their DNA backlog and
improve overall management of the DNA lab.
The program will be implemented utilizing existing resources.

Once again, a clear winner

Once again, Governor Jim Doyle was the clear winner in tonight’s debate.

And now that the debate is over, here are three easy actions you can take to help re-elect Governor Doyle and Lt. Governor Lawton:

1. Vote in Online Polls
2. Write a letter to the editor of your local paper.
3. Tell a friend about Governor Doyle's clear victory tonight.

The Governor won the second debate just like he won the first – by presenting a clear vision for moving <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Wisconsin forward and making life more affordable for working families.

Meanwhile, Congressman Mark Green once again attempted to hide his extreme Washington record behind misleading rhetoric.

Congressman Green says he wants to make health care more affordable. But in Washington, he’s voted to give away billions to the big drug companies in exchange for campaign cash.

Congressman Green says he wants to put our kids first. But in Washington, he’s voted to slash federal student aid and public education funding.

Congressman Green says he supports working families. But in Washington, he’s voted against raising the minimum wage and for giving tax breaks to companies that ship Wisconsin jobs overseas.

Congressman Green tries to claim he supports stem cell research, but in Washington, he has voted against federal funding for stem cell research and voted eight times to ban or criminalize lifesaving stem cell research.

Wisconsin simply can't afford four years of Congressman Green. Help Governor Doyle and Lt. Governor Lawton by taking these three quick actions tonight:

Write a letter to the editor of your local paper.
3.

Friday's second gubernatorial debate will mark a key moment in this year's campaign to re-elect Governor Jim Doyle and Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton.

Once again, Wisconsin voters will see more of Governor Doyle’s Wisconsin straight talk and Congressman Mark Green’s Washington double talk.

Join us Friday night for a debate watching party - and hit the streets the following day, Saturday, October 7, to talk with voters about Governor Doyle's plans to make Wisconsin more affordable for working families.

Click below to sign up at a location near you:

1. Attend a Debate Watching Party on Friday Night

While Gov. Doyle and Lt. Governor Lawton have focused on making a middle class lifestyle more affordable, Congressman Mark Green has repeatedly voted to squeeze the middle class.

We are in the final stretch of the campaign and need your help to identify and persuade voters following the debate.

Voting isn't enough this year. Join us for a debate watching party and help organize your neighborhood and knock on doors the following day.

Secretary Albright and Governor Doyle Talk Education at UWM

Yesterday, Former Secretary of State
Madeleine Albright under President Bill
Clinton
visited the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee to speak with
students about the importance of education and what it takes to keep Wisconsin competitive in
the global marketplace.

“It’s refreshing to leave Washington and come to a place like Wisconsin where leaders
like Governor Doyle realize that education must be a priority,” Secretary
Albright said yesterday. “Governor Doyle is a leader who understands that
investments in education and investments in our workforce are the only way we’re
going to compete and win in the global
marketplace.”

Governor Doyle also spoke at the
event, highlighting his
efforts in Wisconsin to
invest in education so the state remains competitive in the global economy.

“Secretary Albright has led a
remarkable life,” Governor Doyle said. “She understands, as we do here in
Wisconsin,
that we now live in a global marketplace. A graduate here at UWM isn’t just
competing with someone from Illinois or
New Jersey.
They’re competing with someone in Indonesia and New Delhi. We’ve got to focus on the high
end.”

See reports from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and WISN in Milwaukee
